What the twist buttons do

The 2.1.0 notes describe twists like this: tap a twist button to spin mid-air, tap the opposite direction to reverse, and hold both to keep the current angle. The store description lists "twists in both directions" among the moves. Version 2.2.0 added a Twist Speed setting with Slow, Regular and Fast, and fixed regrabs during a twist.

The Let Go button can also be switched to Twist mode in the UI Designer, so one button can serve as the release on the bar and a twist in the air.

No twist on the keyboard

The browser build on our play page is the developer's older HTML5 version. Its itch.io page lists four keys: arch, tuck, let go and reset. There is no twist key. If you want twists, use the app on a phone, or the app on Windows through Google Play Games.

Practising one twist

1. Set Twist Speed to Slow in the app settings so you can see what each tap does.
2. Use a map with height. The Trampoline map was rebuilt in 2.1 so flips and twists carry through the bounce (see maps).
3. Get a release you can repeat (see the swing timing drill), then add a single tap of one twist button right after release. Watch how far Noomi turns.
4. Try the opposite button next attempt. Then try one tap followed by the other, which reverses.
5. Only after a half or full twist looks the same twice, raise Twist Speed to Regular.
6. Use slow motion and the replay to check where the twist started and whether the body was open or tucked. A tucked body changes the flip; the twist buttons change the turn.

Twists and regrabs together

Since 2.2.0 you can catch a bar mid-twist. The practical order is: learn the regrab without twisting, then add a twist and hold both buttons to stop the turn before the hands reach the bar.
