How to play NoomiClone
NoomiClone has only a few inputs, but the timing is everything. This guide walks through your first session on the bar and your first flips on the floor.
1. Build a swing
Start in Bar mode on the Classic map. Noomi hangs from the bar. Press arch as you swing forward and release it as you come back; press tuck at the bottom of the backswing. Alternating arch and tuck in rhythm with the swing pumps energy into it, the same way you pump a playground swing. After three or four swings you will be reaching horizontal.
2. Let go at the top
Press let go when Noomi is near the top of the forward swing. Release too early and you fly out flat; release too late and you go straight up and come down on the bar. The sweet spot is a little before the highest point. Watch where Noomi lands and move the release a fraction earlier or later next time.
3. Shape the flight
Once in the air, tuck makes Noomi spin faster and arch slows the rotation down and opens the body. A tucked flip is quick; a laid-out flip needs more height. Hold tuck for most of the flight and open up just before landing to stop the rotation.
4. Catch the next bar
On maps with two bars, release from the first bar with enough rotation to reach the second, then hold arch so the hands lead. If Noomi's hands touch the bar, the game catches it automatically. Regrabs also count toward unlocking skins in the app.
5. Tumbling mode
On the floor maps you run, jump and flip over boxes and ramps. The same tuck and arch rules apply: tuck to rotate, open up to stop. Land with the feet under the hips and Noomi stays up; land on the hands or the head and you reset with R.
6. Use slow motion and replays
In the app, turn on slow motion while you learn the release timing, then switch it off once the rhythm is in your hands. The replay scrubber shows every input, which is the fastest way to see whether you released early or late.
Controls
Keyboard (browser version)
| Key | Move | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| ← Left arrow | Arch | Opens the body. On the bar it pumps the swing; in the air it slows rotation. |
| Space | Tuck | Pulls knees to chest. On the bar it pumps the swing; in the air it speeds rotation. |
| ↑ Up arrow | Let go | Releases the bar. Timing decides height and distance. |
| R | Reset | Puts Noomi back on the bar or the starting spot. |
Touch (iOS and Android app only)
The app shows on-screen buttons for the same moves plus the ones the app adds: pike, layout, squat, twist left and twist right. Every button can be moved and resized in the settings. Replays can show your taps on screen, which helps when you compare runs.
- Tuck: fastest rotation, lowest height needed.
- Pike: legs straight, body folded. Slower than tuck, looks cleaner.
- Layout: straight body. Slowest rotation, needs the most height.
- Arch: body open and bent backwards. Stops rotation and lifts the chest for a bar regrab.
- Twist left / right: adds a spin around the long axis during a flip.
- Squat: absorbs a landing so the feet stick.
Tricks, in the order to learn them
Back tuck off the bar
Pump to horizontal, let go just before the top of the forward swing, hold tuck immediately. Open up (arch) when Noomi is upside down on the way down and the feet come under the body for the landing.
Layout
Same release, but hold arch instead of tuck. The straight body rotates slowly, so pump an extra swing or two first. Releasing later only sends Noomi upward without enough travel.
Double flip
Needs maximum swing and the earliest release that still gives height. Hold tuck the whole flight and open only in the last moment. Second rotation ends short: you released too late. Over-rotation: open earlier.
Twists (app)
Add twist left or right during a laid-out flip. Start the twist right after release and stop it halfway through the flight so the body is square for landing.
Bar regrab
Release from bar one with a small rotation, hold arch so the hands lead, and aim the hands at bar two. The game catches when the hands touch. Regrabs unlock skins in the app.
Stuck landing
Stop the rotation with arch, then press squat (app) just before the feet touch. On a keyboard, make sure the body is fully open before contact.
Questions
Why does Noomi keep landing on the head?
You are tucking too long. Open the body (arch) earlier in the flight so the rotation stops before the feet reach the ground.
How do I get more height?
More swings before you release, and release slightly earlier than the top of the swing. Height comes from the swing, not from the air.
Is there a tutorial in the game?
The app has a short in-game tutorial. The browser version drops you straight on the bar, which is why this page exists.
Can I change the keyboard keys?
Not in the browser version. The app lets you rearrange and resize the touch buttons.
Which map is best for practising?
Classic for the bar and the first Tumbling map for the floor. Trampoline gives extra height, which makes doubles easier to learn.
