NoomiClone backflip

A backflip in NoomiClone is a tuck held long enough to rotate once, then an open body to land. Tumbling mode exists for this: the developer describes it as built for "backflip combos". Here is how the inputs work and how to land one flip at a time.

What makes Noomi rotate

The store description lists tuck, pike, arch, layout and squat among the moves. The rule that matters for a flip: tuck makes the body smaller and speeds the rotation up, arch or layout opens it and slows the rotation down. Height comes from the swing on a bar, from a trampoline, or from the squat (renamed from Jump in 2.0.0) on the floor. The developer also lists "stuck landings" as a move, and the Sticking mechanic from 1.7.3 holds the landing.

Where to practise

Tumbling mode on the Flat Ground map is the plain floor. Precisions adds platforms when the landing spot starts to matter. On the bar side, the Trampoline map was rebuilt in 2.1 so a flip keeps going through the bounce. The full list is on the maps page. Tumbling has a realistic gravity mode (1.5.0) and a Gravity setting (2.0.0); a lower gravity gives more time in the air while you learn.

Landing one backflip

  1. Get into the air the same way each time: the same number of swings, or the same squat, so the height is repeatable.
  2. Tuck right after leaving the bar or floor and hold it. Watch how far Noomi turns with that one tuck length.
  3. Open up (arch or layout) when the feet are coming under you. Too early and the flip stops short; too late and it goes past.
  4. Change one thing per attempt: tuck a little longer, or open a little earlier. Press R to reset when it goes wrong.
  5. In the app, use slow motion and the replay to see the moment you opened up. The browser build has neither.
  6. A landing you can repeat twice is a landing. Only then add a second flip or a twist.

Backflip in the browser version

The itch.io build on our play page is a bar-only demo with four keys: arch, tuck, let go and reset. You can flip off the bar there with tuck and arch, but there is no Tumbling mode, no squat and no trampoline. The swing timing drill is the way to get a repeatable release first.

Questions

How do I backflip in NoomiClone?

Get height, tuck and hold until the body has turned, then open up with arch or layout to land. Change one input per attempt and use the replay in the app to check the timing.

What is the best map for backflips?

Flat Ground in Tumbling mode for a single flip; Trampoline in Bar mode for height. Both are named by the developer.

Can I do a front flip?

The developer's listing names backflip combos, flash kicks and twists, not a front flip specifically. The same tuck and open-up logic applies in whichever direction the rotation starts.
